Our story

Fresh, local and delivered to your door!

Here at The Wholesome Loaf Bakery in Carlisle, PA we believe that everyone should have access to fresh bread and pastries made with the highest quality organic flour and locally sourced ingredients.

We want everyone to have access to fresh, artisanal bread at an affordable price. We source ingredients from local farms and bake with seasonal, organic ingredients as often as possible. We aim to build community in Central Pennsylvania through our local sourcing and free local (Carlisle Borough) delivery. We hope that our breads will encourage you to share a meal or a simple loaf with friends and neighbors. Great relationships are built around the table!

How it Works

We are not a traditional store front bakery, but we’re every bit as dedicated and passionate about providing you with delicious artisan loaves every weekend. We have managed to keep costs down by converting our existing garage into a PA State inspected bakery. Keeping our costs down transfers to you and that is very important to us! That also means that this bakery runs on preorders only. Since we are not a storefront shop it is not possible to simply pop in and see what’s available. (It’s also another way we keep costs down and eliminate food waste!)

Our weekly rotation of breads, pastries and granola are available for pickup and delivery on Saturday mornings (delivery is local to Carlisle Borough only.) Please have any orders for Saturday in by 10:00AM on Friday. The breads depend on a long fermentation time to develop optimal flavor and nutrition for you.
